Sony Xtra Bass headphones
by Marc in A/VTo all the hip hop and Drum ‘n Bass fans out there trying in vain to get any bass out of the things Apple laughingly call headphones: Sony might just have the answer for you.
The recently announced XB (eXtra Bass) line of cans promises fat (should that be phat?), booming bass without compromising the higher frequencies.
There are 5 models in the new range, starting with the earbud style XB-20EX and XB-40EX then moving up to the larger overhead style XB-300, XB-500 and XB-700 models.
The XB-700 has a 50mm driver, cushioned earpads that should completely isolate you from the outside world and (if the marketing is to be believed) sound like “Being blasted by a 10 metre high sound rig”.
The guys over at Obsessable list the frequency range as a staggering 3-28000Hz which should make them worth an audition, so look out for them in shops from March.
