Skype hits the iPhone, Truphone says about time!
by Marc in Mobile tech
Last week there was much cheering and flag waving as news broke that Skype was going to be available (at last) for the iPhone. You’ll be able to make Skype-Skype calls and IM your Skype contacts from the iPhone… as long as you’re connected via Wifi that is.
Meanwhile on this side of the pond, Truphone are busy pointing out to anybody who’ll listen that their VOIP/IM client has been able to connect to Skype users since January, but as well as working over Wifi it can use the cellular network for the first leg of the call.
This means you can contact people when you’re not in a Wifi zone and you can also get international calls to anywhere for the cost of a standard local mobile call.
