Make a useable spare room with the StudyBed
by Marc in Home
I’ve seen many smaller rooms converted into home offices and inevitably when you do that the bed has to go. That’s fine, until you want to put a friend up for the night. Then you realise you could really have used the sleeping space!
The StudyBed is a nice solution to this problem. It looks like a regular desk holding a regular PC monitor (or laptop, or whatever). What you don’t see is the bed built into the unit, which pulls down in an instant to turn the office into a sleeping space.
The shelf holding your office equipment stays flat during the transition so you don’t need to make any special arrangements to turn the desk into a bed; all you do is pull the bed down and the shelf goes down with it.
The beds are sturdy – they claim sturdy enough for regular rather than occasional use – and sizes go from single all the way up to king. You can also get a variety of wooden and painted finishes to match your decor.
Prices start from £1150 for a single, going up to £1395 for the king. Expensive perhaps, but cheaper than a loft conversion!
