Chainsaws will occupy a special place in the heart of anybody who’s been around long enough to remember ID Software’s genre-defining game, Doom. (or, indeed, any fans of the Evil Dead series)

With the advent of the i.Saw USB chainsaw you can bring your space-marine/zombie hunting fantasies one step closer… or at least you might be able to in September when they actually start shipping the things.

It looks like a working, scaled down Husqvarna and is cool, in a “WTF?” kind of way – but when you get down to it the only thing it uses USB for is power so it’s not really that connected. Personally I prefer USB gadgets that actually interact with the computer in some way, like this cool missile launcher.

But since when has practicality ever had anything to do with gadgets?

Is it me or does The Stig look a little like a Cylon with the whole red visor thing going on? Anyway if you want to wake up to your favourite Top Gear test pilot, Play.com are advertising this “Stig” themed projection alarm clock. No details are available as yet, they’re taking pre-orders for release in June. So all we know is that it’s an alarm clock, it’s in the shape of the Stig and it projects.

Ahhh, memories.  Airwolf – It didn’t matter what the problem was – whether it was dodgy third world dictators, corrupt businessmen or damsels in distress you knew it would be sorted out in the last 5 minutes by blowing something up with a jet powered attack chopper.

Wandering around Maplin the other day I saw this RC version – yes, you can embrace your inner child, put the electro-synth soundtrack on the stereo and fly the scale model around your living room!

Or is that just me? Anyway, it’s available online here, or in your local Maplin store (although I can’t see it on the website)
