Wake up to the Stig

March 23rd, 2009 by Marc in Home, Odd but Cool, Toys

Is it me or does The Stig look a little like a Cylon with the whole red visor thing going on? Anyway if you want to wake up to your favourite Top Gear test pilot, Play.com are advertising this “Stig” themed projection alarm clock. No details are available as yet, they’re taking pre-orders for release in June. So all we know is that it’s an alarm clock, it’s in the shape of the Stig and it projects.

[found, bizarrely enough, via OhGizmo who are in Canada. Guess TG really does have a global audience!]

Wenger giant swiss army knife

March 12th, 2009 by Marc in Odd but Cool

wenger

This was released in 2007 but somehow managed to escape my attention until now. It was a special edition Swiss Army knife created by the official manufacturer Wenger and seems to contain pretty much every tool they’ve ever squeezed into a knife.

Pliers, compass and magnifying glass are some of the more common tools, followed by a dazzling assortment of blades, hooks and spikes.

No, you’re never going to use it. But that’s not the point – if you want a completely different collectable display item, head over to Firebox with your credit card in hand…

A full list of the features can be found after the jump – there are quite a lot!

Can’t get that shot off in time? Get the “Jump” and “self destruct” keys mixed up in your favourite game? This uninspiring box may well have the answer, at least if it lives up to it’s claims.

OCZ, usually associated with high performance memory and PC components are selling this “Neural Impulse Actuator”. Otherwise known as thought control for your PC gaming.

Fancy an original Forbidden Planet movie poster? Start saving…

January 26th, 2009 by Marc in Odd but Cool, Uncategorized

[ FORBIDDEN PLANET POSTER ]

Forbidden Planet should be right up there at the top of any self respecting geek’s movie list – after all, the film that introduced Robbie the Robot to the world deserves some recognition.

So what better decoration for your home cinema than this original 1956 poster advertising the theatrical release? Yours, courtesy of MoviePosters.com for only £8700 plus change.

We’d like it for the office but somehow I don’t think we could justify the expenses claim…

The Wiper Mirror

January 25th, 2009 by Al in Odd but Cool

wipermirror

So you’ve just got out of the shower and need to do face stuff but the mirror’s all steamed up, you could wipe it with your hand and leave finger marks all over the place, or learn a lesson form the automotive inductry and stick a wiper on it, quirky but cool.

You can buy the Wiper Mirror from Suck UK for £75.
